Inside FTI
|
FTI provides turn-key solutions from design to manufacturing of paper processing equipment, including UL, CE, CSA, VDE and TUV testing for agency certification for companies selling worldwide.
FTI was originally founded in 1968 as the forms handling equipment (FHE) division of Tab Products Company in Santa Clara, CA. In 1974 the division produced its first continuous feed decollator for the automated separation of continuous pin-fed business forms. The division continued to expand in this market by engineering continuous form bursters, mergers and other niche products.
The FHE division soon expanded its customer base and began to design and engineer products for other companies. This move allowed the FHE division to expand its product offering and improve on core competencies such as product development, assembly procedures and quality control. In 1990 Tab Products designed and introduced the first self mailer equipment for the independent reseller market utilizing heat-seal technology. A second generation of self-mailing equipment was released in 1992 utilizing water-based sealing principles. In 1994 Tab Products entered into a partnership with Formax of Dover, NH to resell its continuous form and self-mailer products nationwide. In cooperation with Formax, the FHE division began manufacturing the third and most advanced generation of self-mailer equipment utilizing patented pressure seal technology in early 1996.
In December of 2002, the division was acquired by Formax Technologies Incorporated, a Formax affiliate company. FTI continues to focus on providing product development and manufacturing capabilities to companies focused on sales and marketing of paper processing equipment. FTI continues to look for partnerships where the customer can benefit from its expertise in turnkey solutions from design to manufacturing. New business opportunities include enhancements and alterations to existing products or new projects beginning at the design level.
In addition to self-mailing equipment, continuous form bursters, decollators and mergers, FTI has designed and continues to produce a full line of industrial conveyors to be used as stand alone products or with integrated infra-red drying systems for direct impression printing and addressing. FTI also a leading manufacturer provider of document folders for high speed folding of paper and other customized proprietary products of our customers.
